FAQs

Do you offer free shipping?

All USA orders have free shipping. This may exclude some custom orders (we would let you know).

Can you make a custom piece based on a photo or idea I send?

Yes. Many of our custom builds start with a photo, sketch, or rough idea from the customer. If you have an image or inspiration piece in mind, feel free to send it. We’ll talk through the details and figure out how to bring it to life.

Can I choose the type of wood for my custom order?

Absolutely. Most custom projects can be built in the wood of your choice. The only time we recommend sticking with a specific wood is for cutting boards. Woods like walnut have a tighter grain structure that helps prevent mold and bacteria over time, making them better suited for kitchen use.

Can you engrave logos, names, or custom messages?

Yes. We use CNC and laser engraving machines in the shop. Most of our products include free personalization, whether it’s a name, message, or logo. If you have something specific in mind, just send it over and we’ll make sure it fits your piece perfectly.

How much does a custom order usually cost?

Pricing depends on the size, materials, and complexity of the project. Most cutting boards range between $100 and $500. Custom furniture can vary much more and often costs several thousand dollars. Every custom build is priced individually using a standard formula. We’ll give you a clear estimate before we begin.

How long does a custom order take?

For smaller custom items like flags or cutting boards, the build time is typically 2 to 4 weeks. Many of our standard products are kept in stock and can ship within 1 to 2 business days. Larger furniture projects may take 6 to 12 weeks depending on materials, scheduling, and the time of year. We will always provide a timeline when your order is placed.

Do you provide design sketches or renderings before building a custom piece?

Yes. For custom furniture and larger builds, we can provide sketches or digital renderings before construction begins. In some cases, these drawings are included if you move forward with the project. If the design requires more time or you decide not to proceed, a design fee may apply. We’ll always discuss this with you ahead of time.

Can you install furniture or built-in pieces in my home?

Yes. We’re based in the Chicago area and offer delivery and installation services throughout northern Illinois and parts of southern Wisconsin. If you're within our region, we can install custom pieces in your home for an added fee. Travel costs and installation charges will be discussed and agreed upon before the project begins.

Can I supply my own wood or materials for a project?

In most cases, we prefer to source the materials ourselves to ensure proper moisture content, stability, and quality. That said, if you have sentimental wood—like a tree from your property or family lumber—we’re happy to work with it. Just note that our warranty may be limited when using materials we did not source.

Do you offer gift wrapping or custom packaging?

When you select a gift option at checkout on our website or Etsy page, we remove all pricing from the packing slip. Most items ship in plain brown boxes with protective fill. If you’d like special wrapping, a handwritten note, or another request, email us at orders@infanticustombuilds.com and we’ll do our best to help.

Can I visit your shop or see items in person before ordering?

At this time, we do not offer in-person visits, as our workshop is based out of a private home. However, we’re always happy to send detailed photos or videos of current projects, materials, or progress updates.

Can I see a preview of the engraving before you start?

Absolutely. We can send a digital mockup of your engraving by email before we begin carving. If you’d like to receive a proof, please include a note at checkout or email us at orders@infanticustombuilds.com with your order number.

What fonts or styles can I choose for engraving?

We offer a variety of fonts and formats. You can see current engraving options by visiting our Custom Engraving Page. If you're unsure what to choose, we’re happy to help you pick a style that fits.

Can I request a rush order if I need something quickly?

Yes. We can usually accommodate rush orders for an additional fee. Contact us before placing your order to confirm availability. If specific materials need to be ordered, we may not be able to expedite the build.

Do you offer repair or refinishing services?

Yes. We offer a cutting board refurbishment service for past customers. You pay shipping both ways and a small fee. We’ll sand and re-oil your board to restore it to like-new condition. Contact us at orders@infanticustombuilds.com to set it up.

Do you offer wholesale pricing or bulk discounts?

Yes. We offer discounts for bulk orders, corporate gifts, or special events. Contact us at orders@infanticustombuilds.com before placing your order to discuss pricing and turnaround time.

Can I request a specific delivery date for a gift or event?

We can often coordinate shipping around special events like weddings or birthdays. Once an item leaves our shop, delivery timing is out of our control. If you need us to hold an item for a later ship date, a storage fee may apply.

How do I hang a wooden flag or wall art from your shop?

For larger flags over 18 inches wide, we include D-hooks for secure mounting. Smaller items may not include hardware. We recommend using a professional installer for all wall-mounted pieces. We cannot be held responsible for damage caused by improper installation.

What finish do you use on cutting boards, and how should I maintain them?

We finish our cutting boards with Walrus Oil, a food-safe, natural board conditioner. Care instructions are included with each order, and you can also visit our Board Maintenance page for full cleaning and care tips.

Do your furniture items require special care or maintenance?

Most of our hardwood furniture is finished with durable natural oils that do not require regular maintenance. A wood-safe cleaner is all you need for everyday care. Direct sunlight may cause fading over time. Our pieces are made to be used and enjoyed, not kept under glass.
